Raymond-Lafon may not be classified as a cru classé, yet the quality of this estate will tell you otherwise. Tended for decades by Yquem's 'régisseur', Pierre Meslier, the vineyards have been painstakingly attended to as Yquem's have been and the wines have benefited enormously due to this care. The 2009 Sauternes is one pure concentration and power. Dried pineapple, marmalade and crème brûlée all come to the palate in this deliciously unctuous wine.

Château Raymond-Lafon Sauternes is primarily made from Sémillon (about 80%) and Sauvignon Blanc grapes. These grapes are meticulously hand-picked, often in multiple parcels through the vineyard, to ensure only those affected by noble rot (Botrytis cinerea) are selected. The wine undergoes fermentation and aging in oak barrels, with a portion of the barrels being renewed each year. This aging process typically lasts between 18 to 24 months, allowing the wines to develop their distinctive character. Renowned for their richness, complexity, and longevity, Château Raymond-Lafon wines frequently showcase flavors of honey, dried fruits, citrus, and floral notes. They are well-balanced, with a harmonious blend of sweetness and acidity, making them a standout choice among Sauternes wines.
