Overview

The debut vintage of Circle of Fifths brings harmony to Giant Steps’ five premier single-vineyard sites—Applejack, Bastard Hill, Primavera, Sexton, and Tarraford—into one expressive, cohesive Pinot Noir. The name pays homage to music theory, mirroring how separate “voices” blend into a single chord, just as these vineyards combine to form a unified wine.

Vineyard & Winemaking

• 100% Yarra Valley fruit, predominantly from Upper Yarra sites 

• Crafted from parcels not selected for individual single-vineyard bottlings, showcasing the collective terroir 

• Includes 42% whole-bunch fermentation, with the remainder destemmed whole berries 

• Matured in 15% new French oak, with the rest seasoned barrels, for approximately 8–10 months 

• Bottled by gravity, unfined and unfiltered

• Colour: Vibrant dark-red core with lighter red edges 

• Nose: Gently brooding aromas of wild black cherry, raspberry, fennel seed spice, and hint of violet 

• Palate: Silken yet powerful, with complex layers of red and black fruits, mint, undergrowth, woodsmoke, and delicate spice 

• Texture & Finish: Plush tannins frame a fresh, silky palate with a long, savoury finish that leaves chalky forest-floor accents
