Description
The 2024 Tolpuddle Vineyard Chardonnay is fine and precise, displaying aromas of sugar-snap pea, fennel and white nectarine with a hint of struck match. The palate shows tension and length, with the vineyard’s hallmark acidity and a fine, chalky texture adding complexity and interest. It is a study in elegance and restraint.
All fruit was hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed and fermented in French oak. The wine spent ten months in barrel with gentle stirring as required, then rested in tank on lees for a further four months before bottling. This careful approach preserves freshness while building depth and texture.
Tolpuddle Vineyard is located in the Coal River Valley of southern Tasmania – an exceptionally cool and dry region, ideal for growing Chardonnay of purity and definition. The vineyard’s light silica-over-sandstone soils contribute to its distinct minerality and natural acidity.
While beautifully expressive now, this vintage will reward careful cellaring through to 2037. Best served at 12–15°C.
